Okay, so I am trying to get organized...

 

Nothing major 

- not the house, or the car, not the cat (but I would like too), not my finances, not my relationship(s), 

but my computer...

 

Currently, I have half a thousand folders. Of these folders a of couple of hundred them are duplicates - with thing in it based on another folder which I could not find at one time. So in the end there is 4 (approximately) for each segment of my life...

 

Music folders, 4 for church stuff folders (plus google-docs to share pages), picture directories (yes, I am old - I think of these folders as directories, still), and blog directories (this is a vast improvement over when I had blogs 'folder-ed' by year)

and moving all of this stuff around to try and make it easier - just seems like an effort... but I have to do something.

So, in my effort to get more organized - I have found "my desktop"
(okay, really hear me out) Music folders - I can’t touch that - it just wreaks havoc with my iPod... so that is done...

 

Oh! I'm thinking that in the picture folder there is the sub-folders for all of my phones, by year.... so a good 20 folders or more. But the problem there is the numbering system they use - if I would copy pictures from one event onto another picture folder, that cause to be renumbered and I would loose something.... Now this would be smart - if I copied over one folder to another folder and when it found a duplicate - it would also let me delete one of the pictures, at that point... - - wait, I think it does do that.... (No, it doesn't - VERIFIED!)

 

Anyway! so now I have an FTTP folder on my DeskTop, with a picture sub-folder, and a folder of various web links, and a sub-folder for Blog - and I am real happy with this one so far... It seems to be working... Kinda! it just seem easier if I keep the often used things in the main directory folder- but then it becomes cluttered - and we all know clutter attracts clutter... but I am happy now...

 

I started another folder for websites that I need to check often. Friends Blog, miscellaneous other websites -- I just want to be able to go someplace and click through and done and done. - I am not holding out hope for this one - my 'bookmarks' in my browser, are a "bigger circus" than my folders - but I am trying to be restrained, and promised my self, i would delete these WebSite ShortCuts - when i loose the loving feeling for them... maybe an archive folder... (smile)

 

anyway - I will keep you posted on my progress with this - but now i am wondering - as I am Fumbling Thru The Pieces of Organization on my computer - maybe the problem is in the fumbling... or the pieces... or IDK....
